Each of the cities in the area has its’ own approach to view preservation — it is important before you purchase a home that may have blocked views to be sure you have investigated with the city to see what the issues will be to restore the views (if any.)
| City | View Ordinance |
| Manhattan Beach | No view ordinance; no preservation of views guaranteed. Height restrictions are the means used to try to limit encroachment by other property owners on views. |
| Hermosa Beach | No view ordinance; no preservation of views guaranteed. Height restrictions are the means used to try to limit encroachment by other property owners on views. |
| Redondo Beach | No view ordinance; no preservation of views guaranteed. Height restrictions are the means used to try to limit encroachment by other property owners on views. Be careful in Hollywood Riviera: some properties have Redondo Beach addresses but are actually city of Torrance, which has view ordinance requirements. |
| Torrance | Hillside Overlay District in Hollywood Riviera, Seaside Ranchos section. All new construction subject to review and input by neighbors including “sticks and flags” review where rough framing and plastic flags are put up to approximate the outlines of any proposed addition to the structure prior to permit approval so that neighborhood input may be obtained.
