Hollyglen Homes

Hollyglen Homes for Sale

466570525-2Nestled up against Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach and El Segundo, the Hollyglen area of Hawthorne is a special little community. First, Hollyglen homes are very well built, mostly post WWII homes with good basic floorplans and solid construction. The tree lined streets are wonderful and there is a real sense of community in the area. Best of all, the Wiseburn Unified School District, which seceded from the under performing Hawthorne/Lawndale Centinela Valley Unified School District, has succeeded in bringing very high quality education to the area. The elementary school Juan De Anza and the Middle School are both excellent. The district is now petitioning for its own high school, but in the meantime there are two Da Vinci charter high schools, one for the Arts and one for Science and Math. There is also the wonderful private high school Vista Mar.

With great location, homey neighborhood, and excellent schools, this little enclave is one of my favorites, especially for first time buyers in the South Bay. Housing prices start around the mid 500,000’s generally for a three bedroom 1 3/4 bath home with a family room and about 1400 square feet in good move-in condition. Lots typically are about 5000 square feet too, so there is room for the pets and kids and backyard entertaining.

North of El Segundo Boulevard, the area is called Del Aire.  This area has a Hawthorne Post Office address but technically is unincorporated Los Angeles County.  However, the schools are still Wiseburn, so this area has recently seen a jump in prices as well.

Here are the listings for Hollyglen homes for sale. Note that the homes on the West side of the 405 freeway are the most desirable; not all Hollyglen neighborhood schools are Wiseburn and not all Wiseburn is in Hollyglen. But when they overlap, wowie!
